American Idol contestant John Foster is seeing a huge rise in popularity among fans who vote for him night after night.

Before he traveled to Hollywood for "American Idol," Foster already had several gigs scheduled for this year in various West Baton Rouge venues. Locals weren't sure whether he could keep those commitments, but they said they wouldn't blame him for breaking them.

The evening began with five hopefuls, each delivering two performances that would determine their fate. The remaining contestants—Slater Nalley, Breanna Nix, John Foster, Jamal Roberts and Thunderstorm Artis—received mentorship from Broadway legend Lin-Manuel Miranda, who guided them through their Disney-themed song selections.

John Foster has earned a fan-favorite spot on American Idol season 23. He is now a contestant in the Top 10 and will appear on the live Ladies' Night episode, airing on May 4, 2025.
