Former U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu barely broke a sweat as she brushed aside Japanese wild card Sayaka Ishii 6-2 6-1 on Wednesday to reach the second round of the Miami Open.

Emma Raducanu raced into the second round of the Miami Open with a dominant 6-2 6-1 victory over Japanese wildcard Sayaka Ishii. It was a first win for British No 2 since a traumatic incident involving a stalker at the Dubai Open last month, and follows a first-round exit in Indian Wells, the first tournament of the ‘Sunshine Double’.

Nick Kyrgios beat Mackenzie McDonald 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and secured his maiden win since October 2022. Emma Raducanu also advanced to the second round and will face Emma Navarro.
