The owners of the San Francisco 49ers are reportedly selling about 6% of the team to a trio of tech investing stalwarts, including billionaire Vinod Khosla.

The primetime schedule starts with the nearly annual night game against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night in Week 5. The 2025 season marks the sixth time in the last seven seasons that the 49ers’ rivalry will be renewed in primetime, with San Francisco dominating Los Angeles with a 4-1 record in those five games.

That figure is higher than both Forbes and Sportico value the franchise. Sportico estimates the 49ers are actually valued at $6.8 billion. Forbes' 2024 list of NFL team valuations also had the team valued at $6.8 billion. That figure ranked sixth among all NFL teams on Forbes' list.

The San Francisco 49ers are projected to finish with a winning record in 2025, which could mean a return to the playoffs.
