Mired in the worst slump of his career, Red Sox righty Tanner Houck was placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday with a right flexor pronator strain. Cooper Criswell was recalled from Triple-A Worcester to take Houck’s spot on the roster.

The 2025 season has not been kind to Boston Red Sox starter Tanner Houck. After Houck’s latest blowup against the Detroit Tigers, an outing which saw him allow 11 earned runs on nine hits and two home runs over two and 1/3 innings, he has received perhaps his most discouraging news so far.

Houck, who allowed 11 earned runs over 2 1/3 innings in a 14-2 loss against the Tigers on Monday night, is enduring the worst stretch of his career.

There are outings when Tanner Houck shows flickers of the pitcher who made the All-Star team last season. Then, there are nights like Monday, when a mishap is so dramatic that it derails his momentum entirely.
