The Department of State Health Services also stopped allowing gender changes on birth certificates unless the hospital made an error.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a legal opinion Friday arguing state agencies should no longer follow court orders allowing transgender Texans to change their sex on a driver's license or birth certificate.

Per the attorney general’s nonbinding opinion, state agencies should change gender markers on government documents back to a person’s sex assigned at birth.
