The major studios have learned not to put out high profile titles in the wake of a Marvel movie – hence why Eli Craig's Clown In A Cornfield, Joe Carnahan's Shadow Force, and James Madigan's Fight Or Flight were Friday's big new arrivals – and that set the box office up for another big showdown between Jake Schreier's Thunderbolts* and Ryan Coogler's Sinners.

Thunderbolts* had a strong second weekend hold at the box office for an MCU movie, and has now reached $272.2 million globally. The Florence Pugh-fronted action flick added $33.1 million domestically and $34 million internationally to top the box office charts for a second week running.

Since Thunderbolts* opened in theaters last week, Marvel Studios has been pushing it as *The New Avengers. That appears to have paid off as the movie is only expected to suffer a -53% second weekend drop.
